Flu Vaccination Clinics Planned


The York County Area Agency on Aging in partnership with WellSpan Health and the York City Bureau of Health, will offer flu shots to York County residents age 9 and older. Pneumonia shots will also be available for eligible older adults. Three drive-thru clinics will be available.

The drive-thru clinics will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, at the York Expo Center, 334 Carlisle Ave.; from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Freedom; and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Manchester Township Municipal Office, 3200 Farmtrail Road, York. Eligible residents will drive to the designated location, roll down the car window, complete the necessary paperwork, roll up their sleeve, and receive the vaccine without getting out of their vehicle.

Additional flu shot clinics will take place from 9 to 11 a.m., unless otherwise noted. Clinics are scheduled on Thursday, Oct. 15, at Springetts Fire Hall, 3013 E. Market St., York; Friday, Oct. 16, at the Dover Township Community Building, 3700 Davidsburg Road; Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Delta Senior Center, 5 Pendyrus St.; and Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Dillsburg Senior Activity Center, 1 N. Second St.

There is no preregistration for the clinics. However, the registration form may be completed before the clinic and brought along to expedite the registration process. The 2009 Immunization Registration form may be downloaded from the Forms and Documents page at www.ycaaa.org.

Medicare will cover the cost of the shot for those enrolled in Medicare Part B. Several Medicare Advantage Plans will also be accepted at the clinics, including Gateway Medicare Assured, Geisinger Gold, Health America-Advantra, Highmark Freedom Blue PPO, Humana Gold PFFS, Senior Blue PPO, Today's Option American Progressive, Today's Option by CCRx PFFS, and Unison Advantage. Insurance cards must be shown at the clinic.

A 24-hour information line at 771-9001 will provide up-to-date information on the status of the scheduled flu clinics and current information on eligibility criteria and private pay costs.
