Chester County Chamber Foundation's Youth Leadership Program (YLP) received a $4,580 grant from the Comcast Foundation as a result of its participation in Comcast Cares Day, which took place in April. The grant will help with the cost of the yearlong leadership program, which is offered to all Chester County junior and senior high school students. The mission of the YLP is to create opportunities for Chester County high school students to develop leadership skills, learn about Chester County-based career options and paths, and to interact with leaders of industries. In April, more than 300 local Comcast employees and their families and friends volunteered to clean up the Chester Valley Trail as part of the company's eighth annual Comcast Cares Day. Volunteers teamed up with Chester County Parks and Recreation staff on the trail to remove invasive plant species and litter, paint signs, and assemble bluebird boxes. For more information on Comcast Cares Day, readers may visit www.comcast.com/inthecommunity. In 2007, the Comcast Foundation awarded a $10,000 grant to the YLP. Comcast's Kevin Broadhurst, a Chester County Chamber Board of Directors member, and Tony Colantonio serve on the YLP committee.
