Concert Will Benefit MCC

A benefit concert featuring opera singer and Lancaster native Madeline Bender will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lancaster Mennonite School Fine Arts Center, 2176 Lincoln Highway East.

The concert will benefit the Mennonite Central Committee’s (MCC) Global Family Program, a nonprofit organization that for more than 50 years has provided financial support for community-based education programs for children and young adults in more than 40 developing countries.

Joining Bender will be mezzo-soprano and Hershey native Dorothy Byrne, bass-baritone Paul Whelan, baritone Christopher Herberts and Taiwanese tenor Yi-Te Hung. Conductor/pianist Timothy Long will accompany the concert. Also performing will be the Lancaster Mennonite High School Chorale and the Mennonite Children’s Choir of Lancaster.

Tickets will be available at the door for a suggested donation.

Readers seeking information on MCC’s Global Family Program may call Larry Guengerichat at 738-0885 or visit mcc.org/globalfamily.
