Concert Will Benefit MCC
A benefit concert featuring opera singer and Lancaster native Madeline Bender will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lancaster Mennonite School Fine Arts Center, 2176 Lincoln Highway East. The concert will benefit the Mennonite Central Committee’s (MCC) Global Family Program, a nonprofit organization that for more than 50 years has provided financial support for community-based education programs for children and young adults in more than 40 developing countries. Joining Bender will be mezzo-soprano and Hershey native Dorothy Byrne, bass-baritone Paul Whelan, baritone Christopher Herberts and Taiwanese tenor Yi-Te Hung. Conductor/pianist Timothy Long will accompany the concert. Also performing will be the Lancaster Mennonite High School Chorale and the Mennonite Children’s Choir of Lancaster.
