Northern Posts District Events
Northern York County School District posts its upcoming events and programs. In conjunction with Fire Prevention Week, Wellsville Elementary students will participate in a full-scale fire drill on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 1:15 p.m. The Wellsville Fire Department will respond to the alarm with trucks and firefighters to show students what would happen in a real fire emergency. After the drill, classes will visit with firefighters, tour their trucks, and receive safety information. On Thursday, Oct. 8, elementary classrooms throughout the district will participate in Read for the Record by reading "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle, while district administrators will read to children in local preschools, day care, and Head Starts. The goals of the event is to break the record of the most children and adults reading the same book on the same day and to promote literacy. At 10 a.m., acting superintendent Dr. Linda Lemmon and district technology coordinator Steve Briotte will read to children at Kindercademy in Dillsburg. For the full reading schedule, readers may contact Karen Steinrock at 697-1488. Northern's Homecoming football game against Hershey is set for Friday, Oct. 9, with kickoff at 7 p.m in Bostic Stadium. Members of the Homecoming Court will be presented prior to the game. The Homecoming Dance will be held at the high school on Saturday, Oct. 10. West Chester Community Courier - 10/07/2009 |
