Student Novel Contest Posted

Jump Street will sponsor a unique contest celebrating reading and art for all central Pennsylvania middle school and high school graphic artists. Middle school and high school students are invited to create a book report in the style of a graphic novel. Middle school students may use any book on their school’s required reading list. High school students should use a book from a banned book list as their inspiration.

Jimmy Gownley, author of the "Amelia Rules" graphic novel series and Harrisburg resident, will not only judge the teen contest, but he will be Jump Street's guest speaker at Barnes and Noble on Saturday, Oct. 24. He will deliver a presentation geared toward middle school students at 1 p.m. and for high school students at 2 p.m. Winners of the art contest will be announced at 3 p.m. All artwork will be on exhibit through that weekend.

The deadline for work to be dropped off at Barnes and Noble Bookstore, 58 S. 32nd St., Camp Hill, is Thursday, Oct. 22, at 9 p.m. Interested students may contact Jump Street by calling Melissa or Cindy at 238-1887 for a complete list of art contest rules and guidelines.
