October PVPL Programs Slated
Pequea Valley Public Library (PVPL), 31 Center St., Intercourse, posts its October programs. The library offers a preschool story time for children ages 3 to 5 on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. The program includes books, songs, rhymes, American Sign Language, and a craft. Interested readers should register at the sign-up table. A toddler story time for children ages 18 months to three years will be offered on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. The program includes books, songs, rhymes, American Sign Language, and fun with toys. Readers should register at the sign-up table. “A Visit by Johnny Appleseed” will be presented on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 9 a.m. Attendees will hear tales from Johnny Appleseed. Each participant is encouraged to bring an apple, and participants will see how cider is made. Interested readers should register at the sign-up table for this program, which will be presented by the Shuts Environmental Center. The library will present the Read Beyond Reality Contest during Teen Read Week for youths ages 13 to 18 from Sunday, Oct. 18, through Saturday, Oct. 24. The contest asks youths which five books and five book characters they would take with them if they were to be stranded in outer space. Youths may pick up a form at the library, complete it, and turn it in by Monday, Oct. 26, to enter to win prizes. An evening story time with Evelyn Hartmann and Jeannine Forsyth will be presented on Monday, Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m. Hartmann will lead the special preschool story time, which will include a craft. Older children may read to Chloe, a K-Pets certified therapy dog, who will visit the library with Forsyth, her owner/trainer. Neill Hartley will portray Ichabod Crane on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 6:30 p.m. He will tell the tale of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" by Washington Irving. Attendees are encourage to wear their favorite costumes to the library, and sweet treats will be offered.
