Brandt Will Be Guest Speaker

The Elizabethtown First Church of God, 144 S. Market St., Elizabethtown, will welcome the Rev. Dr. Ed Brandt as a guest speaker on Sunday, Oct. 25, at both of its worship services, which are held at 8 and 10:30 a.m. He will speak on "Finishing Races We Never Wanted to Run."

Brandt recently returned from a one-year tour in Baghdad, Iraq, where he served as a brigade chaplain with the 261st Signal Brigade located in Delaware. Serving on Victory Base Camp, Brandt was responsible for the spiritual and pastoral care of more than 1,100 soldiers and supervised two battalion chaplains. He recently received a Bronze Star Medal in recognition of meritorious service for traveling outside the wire to visit soldiers, having formal and informal contact with more than 4,000 soldiers, and doubling the attendance of the 4 p.m. Sunday service that he led.

A graduate of Elizabethtown Area High School, Brandt received his Bachelor’s of Arts degree from the University of Findlay, a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Lancaster Theological Seminary. He has served pastorates in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and California. A native of Falmouth, Brandt grew up in the Elizabethtown First Church of God, and his parents, Ken and Jean Brandt, remain active in the church.
