Identity Theft Seminar Posted

Fairmount Homes, 333 Wheat Ridge Drive, Ephrata, will host an identity theft seminar on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Crest View Gathering Room. The program will be presented by Joyce O'Brien, senior community liaison for the Public Protection Division in the Office of the Pennsylvania Attorney General.

The presentation will share the latest tricks criminals are using to steal personal financial information, provide advice on how to better protect participants from becoming victims, and outline the steps people need to take if they do fall prey to identity theft. From credit card scams and bank transfers to health care fraud, attendees will learn some of the many ways identity criminals operate and what the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office is doing to help consumers.

The seminar is free and open to the public, but preregistration is required. For more details or to reserve a seat, readers may call 354-1893.
