Those who venture out on Downingtown’s Ghostly Walking Tours will likely encounter these characters from the town’s past: Laurie Scrivens (left) as runaway slave Ella Smith; Phil Dague as the town’s founder, Thomas Downing; and Patricia Todd as Madame Todorovski.

The Parks and Historical Commission of Downingtown will continue to celebrate the borough’s 150th birthday with a pair of Ghostly Walking Tours to be held on the evenings of Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 24 and 25.

Saturday's tours will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Borough Hall, 4 W. Lancaster Ave., with the last walk leaving at 9 p.m. Sunday tours will start at 4:30 p.m., with the last group going out at 8 p.m.

Each tour will be led by historical figures from Downingtown's past, who will lead participants to locations where they will hear tales of paranormal activity presented by the Downingtown Area Paranormal Investigators (DAPI). The tour guides will include a gypsy, a runaway slave, an Irish immigrant, a Civil War soldier and Downingtown's founder, Thomas Downing. Sites to be visited will include the Downingtown Log House, Minquas Fire Station, the library and the Downingtown Opera House.

Tickets can be obtained for a nominal donation. Information on where to get tickets can be found by visiting www.Downingtown150.com or by phoning 610-269-0344, ext. 246. Parking will be available at the Concert Pavilion at Kerr Park and on East Lancaster Avenue near the Minquas Fire Company.
