LCDS To Stage “Yellow Boat”

On Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23 and 24, at 7 p.m., a cast and crew of Lancaster Country Day School (LCDS) students will perform "The Yellow Boat," written by David Saar. Lancaster Country Day School is located at 725 Hamilton Road, Lancaster.

The plot of this upper/middle school fall theater production is based on the true story of David and Sonja Saar's son, Benjamin, who became HIV positive following blood transfusions administered to treat his congenital hemophilia. The play, set in the 1980s, explores the way the family and people around them deal with the disease before Benjamin's death at age 8. The story is a celebration of Benjamin's life and his fascination with art.

Renée Allen, LCDS theater director, leads the cast and crew of "The Yellow Boat." The playwright will attend this performance of the play. The production will be free and open to the public. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and a freewill donation will be accepted. For more information, readers may contact Allen at 392-9216 or allenr@e-lcds.org .
