Alternative Gift Faire Scheduled
Five faith-based agencies dedicated to eradicating hunger have been chosen to represent the Alternative Gift Faire at Advent Lutheran Church, 1775 E. Market St., York. The fair will commence after the Hanging of the Greens service at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29, in the Fellowship Hall and will also be held after church services on Sundays, Dec. 6 and 13. The event will conclude at the end of Journey to Bethlehem on Saturday, Dec. 19, from 4 to 6 p.m. No ornaments will be made. The classes will supply original artwork for the cards, which may be given as a gift after a donation has been made. Tangible goods from third world countries as well as fair trade coffees, teas, and chocolates will be available for purchase. The agencies represented at the Faire will include Lutheran World Relief, Bread for the World, Food for the Poor, Food for the Hungry, and Society of St. Andrew.
