Caras To Speak About Cookbook

“Holocaust Survivor Cookbook” author Joanne Caras will be the featured speaker at Lancaster's Congregation Shaarai Shomayim on Sunday, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m. The talk will take place in the temple's social hall, which is located at 75 E. James St., Lancaster. The talk will be free and open to the public, and cookbooks will be on sale at the event.

In 2005, Caras visited the Carmei Ha'ir Soup Kitchen in Jerusalem, which serves more than 500 meals each day to hungry Israelis in need. She decided to create a cookbook to honor the survivors of the Holocaust and to raise money for Carmei Ha'ir. Proceeds from every cookbook sold benefit Carmei Ha'ir and Jewish charities.

Books can be preordered. For information on how to preorder books, readers may contact Holli Winick Viau at 397-5575. Readers should also contact Viau for information on ordering five or more books at a special price.
