Mount Calvary's fall sports season concluded last week for all three teams.
Facing the playoff bound Conestoga Christian School Lady Cougars the Mount Calvary Lady Charger volleyball team was looking to redeem themselves after losing by a tiebreaker earlier in the season.
The Lady Cougars had something different in mind as they jumped out to a two-set lead, 25-22 and 25-15.
The third set saw Mount Calvary rebound by winning the set, 25-20, only to see Conestoga close out the match by narrowly winning the fourth set, 25-23, for the 3-1 victory.
The boys' soccer team played Bible Baptist on Monday in a game Mount Calvary had to win to make the CCAC playoffs. It took two overtime periods, but the Chargers emerged as the 1-0 victor.
MCCS controlled the game and had numerous opportunities to score but just couldn't put the ball in the net. Finally, in the second overtime period, a Charger shot on goal rebounded off the goalkeeper and Jon Fleck put the ball into the net to give Mount Calvary the 1-0 victory with about four minutes left to play.
"We had to win this game to make playoffs, so we were very motivated," said Coach Danny Howard. "We played a very good game."
After the long game the previous day, the boys came out a bit slow and gave up an early goal to The Christian School of York in the first round of CCAC playoffs.
Down 1-0 at halftime, the Chargers came out rejuvenated in the second half and scored in the first two minutes of the half to tie the game at 1-1.
Both teams played even for the rest of the game, and Mount Calvary saw some scoring opportunities.
In the first overtime period, MCCS tried to clear the ball, but it deflected off a York player to another York player who scored the golden goal to give York the 2-1 victory.
The Christian School of York then went on to win the CCAC championship.
"On Monday, we honored our one senior, Benny Ha. I am very pleased with the way Benny played," said Coach Howard. "He was our third-leading scorer and was a great asset who will be missed. I'm very pleased with the way we ended our season. We're a young team, so I'm excited about the future."
The Lady Charger field hockey team finished the year with a 1-0 non-league victory over Harrisburg Academy.
