Olde York Street Fair Scheduled

The Wolf Organization will present the 33rd annual Olde York Street Fair and Mother's Day Celebration in downtown York. The festivities will take place on Sunday, May 11, from 12:30 to 6 p.m. on George and Market Streets, York. The annual street fair will continue York city's tradition of celebrating motherhood with food, music, and crafts.

The fair will include entertainment from many different artists. Local rock band, Close Call, will perform at the Cherry Lane stage from noon to 3 p.m. and will be followed by the harmonica blues of Octavia and the Earthblood Blues Band. At the Columbia Gas Stage, Jimmy Maraventano will perform tropical music for all Jimmy Buffett fans from noon to 3 p.m. The Dave Wilson Quartet will play creative jazz music until 6 p.m. The pop-folk band Naked Blue will be featured at the Courthouse stage, followed by the Americana style of Karen Chronister.

The event will include many strolling performers such as The Banjo Man, Jim Haner, and comedian-mime Pete Geist. Troupe Anwar and Dancers of the Nile will demonstrate the Middle Eastern art of belly dancing. Kay's Reflection will perform their eclectic forms of dance on W. Market Street from 12:30 to 3 p.m.

The Kid's Fun Block, a whole block designated just for children, will be located between King and Market streets. Activities will include inflatable rides, moon bounces, rock climbing, games, face painting, and pottery painting. Appearances will include strolling magicians, clowns, dancers, and visual performers. Jerry Brown and his monkey will entertain with juggling, magic, mime, music and more.
