Free Astronomy Program Slated

The York County Astronomical Society (YCAS) will offer a daylong slate of activities for children and adults and a night of public observation session at John C. Rudy County Park, 400 Mundis Race Road, York. Astronomy Day will be held on Saturday, May 10.

Daytime activities will be held from noon to 5 p.m., and visitors may return at 8 p.m. for a three-hour observation session. Activities related to astronomy will include making a lunar crater, painting a nebula, landing on the moon, building a star clock, making a planisphere star chart, and creating a constellation.

Other activities will include radio astronomy, solar observing, solar photography, and a telescope clinic. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own telescope.

The daytime program is free and will be offered rain or shine. Solar activities will only be offered if it is not cloudy. The evening observing session will only be offered if it is clear or partly cloudy.
