Church To Host Memorial Event

The community of Etters will hold its second Memorial Day celebration on Monday, May 26.

A parade will start the day's festivities at Midway at 10:15 a.m., and continue to Paddletown St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 355 Church Road, Etters. Community members are invited to walk in the parade, provide a small float, purchase candles, and attend this day of remembrance.

Following the parade, a special service will be held in the Christian Education Building of St. Paul's at approximately 11 a.m. A service in the Paddletown Cemetery will follow at approximately 11:45 a.m. The service will include a special military service by the local VFW organization and the lighting of candles on a 14-foot wooden cross. At the end of the cemetery service, attendees will be invited back to the Christian Education Center for light refreshments.

Readers with additional questions may contact the team leader, Michael Wolfe, at 938-8128. The proceeds from the sale of the candles that are placed on the cross will be sent to the Lebanon VA Hospital to provide items needed by patients.
