Armed Forces Day Planned

On Saturday, May 17, Armed Forces Day 2008 will transform Harrisburg's City Island into a sprawling and bustling military base for the seventh year in a row. Visitors will experience nearly 80 indoor and outdoor military displays, exhibitions, living history demonstrations, and family and children’s activities like face painting, an obstacle course, a rock climbing wall, and sports challenges. All activities are free and open to the public.

The day’s activities kick off with a YMCA 5K run at 8 a.m. followed by joint service military displays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The opening ceremony will take place at 11 a.m.
