Lewars Couple Receives Award
Jack and Cathy Lewars, Mount Joy, received the Hospice of Lancaster County's Spirit of Hospice Award at the organization's recent volunteer recognition.
The Spirit of Hospice Award is given each year to a volunteer whose contributions significantly strengthen the organization and its mission, and in addition recognizes a volunteer who demonstrates personal growth and an increased understanding of the hospice philosophy.
Jack and Cathy have been volunteers since 1999 and 2000, respectively. They have served Hospice of Lancaster County by volunteering in the organization's home hospice program and at the Labor Day auction, Hospice's largest fundraiser.
Jack was also honored along with Diana Christ, Stevens, and Virginia Dalton and Catherine Reider, both of Lancaster, for completing more than 2,500 cumulative hours of service. Alexis Dimm and Kyle DeHart, both of Lancaster, received the Teen Service awards.
"Rookie of the Year" recognition was given to Harold Gerber, Mount Joy. Nancy Breneman, Lancaster, was honored for 20 years of volunteering at Hospice of Lancaster County.
