Joe Heyer Run, Walk Posted

The fourth annual Paradise Park Joe Heyer Memorial Run and Walk will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, at Paradise Park on London Vale Road. Registration will open at 7:30 a.m. Participants may take part in either a five-kilometer run or a two-mile walk.

Readers may register in advance by visiting www.paradiserun.com. A registration fee will be charged. A higher fee will be charged on the race day. Awards will be given to the top finishers in the various age groups.

Proceeds from the Joe Heyer Memorial Run and Walk will go to the Gap Women's Center and the Paradise Factory Youth Center. The event brings together leaders and volunteers of the women's center and the youth center, as well as the students who benefit from the centers and local business sponsors.

A special event will occur as the run and walk begins. Pat and Deb Heyer, the parents of Joe Heyer, are currently in Israel working with students. Race organizers will attempt to reach the Heyers by cell phone to give the signal to begin the race and walk.
