Archaeology Program Set

At 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology, Chapter 21, will present a program at Historic Joanna Furnace, located three miles north of Morgantown. Dan Graham will speak on the history of Pine Forge, the first forge in Pennsylvania. Also known as Rutter’s Forge, Pine Forge was built in 1776 by Thomas Rutter. 

Graham has given numerous presentations and has written over 50 articles and papers on the Potts and Rutter families, as well as various aspects of the iron industry in southeastern Pennsylvania. His wife is a descendant of Thomas Rutter III, one of the original owners of the Historic Joanna Furnace property.

The Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology, Chapter 21, promotes the study of prehistoric and historic archaeological resources in Pennsylvania and neighboring states.
