Indiana Jones Program Posted
The Chester County Library, 450 Exton Square Parkway, Exton, will sponsor a lecture on “The Real Indiana Jones: Early Archaeology in the Middle East” on Saturday, May 17, at 2 p.m. The program will be presented by Dr. Mitchell Rothman, a professor at Widener University and a consulting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania Museum.
In recounting the adventures of the earliest English-speaking archaeologists in the Middle East, the lecture will present a picture of early Middle Eastern archaeology and the men and women who laid the foundation for the modern science of archaeology. The lecture will include excerpts from the pioneers’ memoirs and correspondence, as well as slides of original photographs and drawings.
The Outreach Lecture Program is funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.
The library will also present a lecture on the “Wharton Esherick Studio: In Pictures” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 29.
